Destination Weddings in Braga

Braga is also a bustling industrial town where motor vehicles, electrical products, fabric and leather goods are produced. This ancient town is located in northern Portugal and set in an extensive drop between the rivers Cávado and Este. It is one of the largest towns in the country and it is where the Primate of Portugal can be found. Braga is a significant religious center and its numerous churches have typecast it as the "Portuguese Rome." Throughout the old town, visitors can find old homes and striking mansions that are built of solid granite.

The Archbishop's Palace dates from the 14th Century with alterations that took place in both the 17th and 18th Centuries. A fire in the 18th Century destroyed much of its interior and the structure is currently used to store books and administrative records. The decorative blue-tiled exterior of the building known as Palácio do Raio is located near the 17th Century Baroque Church Santa Cruz. The 14th Century Torre de Menagem is located in the City’s square, and is all that remains of the original architecture. The 12th Century Cathedral was built on the site of an older church, which was destroyed in the 6th Century. Today, it is noted as the home of a renowned collection of Portugal’s religious relics, statues, and cherished valuables. The 16th Century Palácio dos Biscainhos was originally an upper-class home, but today it is a museum of Portuguese period furniture and other historical goods.

Braga is a multi-faceted town, consisting of manufacturing, trade and important historical sites. It offers a unique opportunity for couples to enjoy a wedding experience amid an authentic Portuguese environment.
