Unique characteristics of The Tea House
Set on a picturesque coastline, the Tea House is so much more than a simple spot for tea. Originally a fashionable tea house, nowadays it is divided into a tea room and classy dining room, which serves exceptional meals and offers breathtaking views of the seascape.
The Tea House not only attracts admirers of fine cuisine and the ocean, but also those who appreciate modern architecture. Built by one of Portugal's most famous modern architects, the Tea House was the first of its kind. Magnificent architecture is presented in the stairway leading to the entrance, which bestows several dramatic perspectives of the landscape by seeming to conceal and disclose the ocean and the horizon. Once inside, the tea room with its enormous windows exposes the cement foundation below, while the fully glassed dining room leads to an open air plateau. An extraordinary feature of this Tea House is that the window frames can slide down under the floor, leaving the long projecting edges in continuum with the ceiling. This modern example of architecture generates an astonishing effect in the summer, making it possible to walk out from the dining room directly to the sea as the building seems to disappear.
The Tea House’s superb oceanfront location makes an ideal place for a seaside wedding, complete with a chapel and lighthouse. Its modern architecture also creates a special intimate and contemplative ambiance perfect for small receptions.
